Or actually really listening to almost anybody. Martin and I (shocking revelation coming) frequently disagree, but we somehow manage not to devolve into name-calling (usually). I guess it's as good to ask this question: when we take umbrage, why? Is it the point they make, or is it something about their not-me-ness? Not always a clean cut between the two, of course. In both places I meet people who have different political views from mine–and if we're lucky we can discuss questions a little. Of course, it doesn't always work, but as you imply we pretty much have to try.
