Wow, Martin. Backpacking 200 miles in 2 weeks!? Nice work! Enjoyed your post. (I had time to read it, incidentally, because I'm stuck in the San Antonio airport. Those great storms at the ranch last night led to delayed flights for several hundred of us today.)

Why is it that life's adventurous pitfalls make the best stories? That's never a consolation until the last cut heals ... but they do! So very sorry about the hard slog and the injuries. You and Bruce are true adventurers in my book! Janis

Can't believe you didn't drink the scotch.

Your account reminds me of the November '09 hiking trip I took with a buddy to County Donegal, Ireland, the most remote county in a pretty remote country. (Who goes to Ireland in November? Long story.) Needless to say, we were the only foreign tourists anywhere in the county. We shared your experience with high winds, hard rain, cold and fog. Even the locals were complaining about the weather! After our hikes we consoled ourselves with pints of that black stuff and good humor with the locals.
